You can say whatever you want regarding Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), but the senator has a smile and isn't shy about revealing what he thinks about issues. At a press event recently,, Graham spoke to the media on a wide range of topics. The most popular were the remarks regarding Putin's involvement in the Russian attack on Ukraine, as well as Vladimir Putin himself, that made the most waves among people from both sides of the aisle.
“I would like to see him taken out in one way or another. I don't care if they decide to take him. I don't care about whether we take his case for The Hague and try him. I want him to go. Yes I'm on record.” The notion that we should take Putin out of the picture by any means required is something people are having a difficult time wrapping their heads around. One of the main reasons is the increasing use of strictly controlled speech that is politically correct.
Sen. Graham wants no part of this. He is seeking to be a part of a democratic America as well as an America where people are at ease expressing their opinions and ideas without being treated poorly over it. He believes that the truth can be brutal, but it has to be stated. In this instance, he hits the nail on the head. The manner in which he tackles the problem is something that America requires more of.
It's something that former Senator John McCain (R-AZ) could identify with. McCain knew that the use of harsh words used to convey the truth helped to make them more enduring. He understood how challenging it can be when people don't pay attention or offer assistance. He was always looking to get the very best in America. After his time as a POW , it's not surprising that is what he wanted to see. When Sen. Graham goes off on a rant about Putin, he is channeling the backing and support of a long-lost friend and colleague in Senator McCain.
“Vladimir Putin isn't an authentic leader, he is an infamous war criminal. He must be punished through his fellow Russian people. I'm not asking for an invasion of Russia to eliminate him. I'm not requesting American ground troops to Ukraine to battle with the Russian army. I'm merely soliciting the Russian populace to come together and stop the reign of terror.”
Alternatives for getting things done are a wonderful thing. By laying out ways to help Putin to quit his post and appointing a successor, Sen. Graham is doing something everyone loves. He is identifying an issue and coming up with creative solutions. He's open about what he's not looking for, and his solutions are well-established and crystal clear. This is what we want more of in our politicians. The leftist idea of giving quick answers that offer no direction must be put to rest.
The thought of telling someone they should be gone at any cost is something that many adults fantasize about. From customers, to coworkers, to family members, and even those who have recently moved to California and who aren't stopping discussing becoming vegan or making changes to your state's laws, there's always that one person who should be removed for the sake of humanity. In the eyes of Sen. Graham's eyes, it's Putin.
It's not that there aren't other options, Putin just happens to be the most popular of the week thanks to his terrible decisions. His oppression of Ukraine has cost Russia a lot of lives and money and on a variety of fronts. They've lost thousands of their soldiers as well as devalued their currency, bringing it to record lows, split their people, and created large sections of the world that dislike the country. This all under false pretenses Putin can't and won't prove to be true. Senator Graham, in response, suggested the best option for all. Particularly since Putin could start WWIII.
