Following the mass shooting at Buffalo, NY, by the self-described white supremacist “moderate left authoritarian” which is still in the news, a mass shooting took place at Laguna Woods, CA, on Sunday. At present there is one dead and four others are critically injured.
In what could only be described as a mighty heroic act, several members of the congregation targeted by the shooter fought back and tied him down by using extension cords.
The latest news comes directly from the Associated Press.
A man who lit the fire at a luncheon reception at a Southern California church on Sunday was detained by churchgoers, according to an official of the sheriff's department, who called their actions an instance that demonstrates “exceptional heroism and bravery.”
One person was killed, and four others were critically wounded during the afternoon shooting incident at Geneva Presbyterian Church in the city of Laguna Woods, Orange County Sheriff's Department officials told the media.
The suspect has been identified in part. The suspect was identified as an Asian person in his late 60s with origins of Las Vegas, and per other reports, who doesn't reside in the area.
Concerning motives, as is common when mass shootings that do not fit into the story, law enforcement officials are keeping their mouths shut. They're not even saying whether it's an act of hate or not. Today we still don't know an official motive behind the Waukesha murderer, so I don't think we'll get any information in this case any time soon. It's difficult to avoid being suspicious of these incidents due to the fact that political machinations play a part in the manner in which these incidents are reported and the information is made public.
In the final analysis what race the shooter is is not important. All races have bad people who do horrible things. The fact that some people believe they have to place aspirations upon huge groups of people due to the actions of one person is a travesty. However, it's very commonplace and, since this person isn't typical, it's likely that this story will disappear from the news media quickly. I'd prefer it wasn't so, however, it is what it is.
