The recall campaign of San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin was initially thought to be an unreal possibility. San Francisco is not known for recalling its appointed officials. However, as the cycle of drugs, crime, and homelessness along with the soft-on-criminals policy of the Boudin administration continued to take place and generate an aftermath of crime, even the wailing progressives and champagne elites were tired of it and decided it was time for him to step down.
The recall organizers collected an overwhelming number of signatures, which were verified, and the recall was added to June 7, 2022's primary ballot. In just a little more than an hour, after polls across California ended, the results were announced, marking the first significant sign that the change taking place in California is actually happening. San Franciscans voted with an overwhelming majority to recall Boudin. As per Fox News' Bill Melugin, the initial round of votes was 61 percent yes on the recall, while 38 percent of voters said no. It could not be happening to a nicer George Soros-backed D.A.
According to the Washington Examiner, Chesa Boudin, San Francisco's district attorney and a far-left politician, was ousted from office on Tuesday, forced to fight a recall motion over his criminal-justice policy, which voters perceived as being too soft on criminals. A number of networks endorsed the race to recall just under an hour after the polls closed.
The campaign to recall District Attorney Boudin turned into a unipartisan rallying cry for Republicans determined to take on an official whose progressive policy of reforming the criminal-justice system has created a perception of lawlessness and risks the safety of all in San Francisco. Local Democrats tried to draw a sharp contrast between their support for police reform and Boudin's policies, which are widely viewed as being benevolent towards criminals. Then there was the “Republicans pounce” silliness. San Francisco is overwhelmingly progressive Democratic, and the movement began with them. Evidently, even right-leaning publications do not understand the situation.
The recall also serves as an indicator of the recall campaign against Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon. Recall Gascon organizers have gathered more than half a million signatures to date and are now on track to collect the 566,857 valid signatures required to put this recall onto the ballot in November 2022.
The Boudin party was one to listen to at around 9:00 P.M. Pacific Time, after the vote was declared. Instead of welcoming him, one of his staff members took to the air about how the wealthy and powerful aren't able to manage this city (good luck with this) and how it was clear that Boudin did exactly what he stated he would do and that was to fight to defend justice. Boudin himself made a lengthy and rambling speech on the two levels of justice and how everybody must continue fighting to repair a broken system. He also noted that as the votes were counted, the number of votes would decrease. It's like Boudin and his backers live in a different world. There's no sign of regret for having watched the demise of a once thriving city. However, Boudin babbled, blustered, and repeated his unproven policies that do not ever win.
