They confirmed Robert E. Crimo III (who also goes by the name of “Bobby”) as the “person of interest” in the mass shooting that took place at the July Fourth celebration at Highland Park, Illinois. They have just taken the suspect into custody.
There was speculation that the shooter could have fired from the rooftop. He killed six people and at least 26 were wounded during the shooting. The police discovered a firearm in the area it is believed that the attacker had used. They are still unable to identify the model of the rifle.
His family is a long-standing fixture within the city of Highland Park. His father, Robert Crimo Jr, previously was a candidate for mayor in the year 2020.
The father of Crimo's, Bob Crimo, is a small business owner who was a candidate against Highland Park mayor. In his bio, he referred to himself as a self-employed employee working at Bob's Pantry & Deli. “This is my first time serving as a person who serves the people. Although I don't have previous experience in the political arena, I have a good understanding of the workings in Highland Park through my years of business experience.”
The father said he was a “Local small-scale business owner. I'm seeing how Highland Park's central business area is getting more shaky as the years go forward.” He stated, “We need to take an honest look at Highland Park's numerous ordinances, rules and regulations. …”
The “person of interest” was an aspiring rapper. He was listed on a IMDB listing as “Awake the Rapper” and Twitter accounts that were associated with the name. The track was released in 2016, “By The Pond,” with Atlas in accordance with IMDB.
The account he used, Awake the Rapper, featured a red rose. He followed interesting people.
A wanted poster explains his tattoos as follows: “four tally marks with a line through them on his right cheek, red roses and green leaves on his neck, and cursive script above his left eyebrow.” He wears “Awake” tattooed on one eyebrow, and “47” tattooed on the other side of his scalp. There are tattoos on his hands.
The rapper released a dark track titled “Are You Awake” on October 15, 2021. The song seems to indicate that Crimo had planned a life-changing act that was so far beyond his capability to stop. The video contains illustrations of a man shooting an arrow at another.
The video also features the image from a news clipping on Lee Harvey Oswald, who killed President John F. Kennedy, and a different image of a body shot, with blood spraying off the body. [….]
“Like a sleepwalker, I am unable to stop and think,” the man says on the road. “My decisions will prove awe-inspiring and my thoughts are unnecessary. I am aware of what I need to accomplish, and I'm aware of the consequences, and it's not just to me, but for all of us.”
“There is no past or future, just the now,” he says. “It transcends all I could imagine. I feel the air pulling me in. It's inexplicably strong, like a wave that pulls me in, I'm unable to take a breath and not feel it.”
“I must leave right this moment, and I must take action. It's my destiny. Everything has led to this point,” Crimo says. “Nothing could hinder myself, even me. Does there exist a thing called free will? Or was this planned as a cosmic formula?”
“It is what I've been waiting for in the back of my head, ready to be awakened, It is what I've been sent here to do, like a sleepwalker,” He adds.
The disturbing videos suggest that he might have been thinking about this for some time.
