More than 50 Members of Congress Have Requested Biden Take a Cognitive Test; What Happens if He Fails?

Does Joe Biden needs a cognitive exam? If you think he does, then you agree with Dr. Ronny Jackson, the White House physician during the Trump and Obama administrations.

As a Republican representative from Texas' 13th district, Dr. Jackson sent a letter asking President Biden to be tested.

The letter, which was posted on Wednesday, begins as follows:

Dear President Biden,

We again write to you to express concern with your current cognitive state and to urge you to submit to a cognitive test immediately. We believe that, regardless of gender, age, or political party, all Presidents should follow the example set by former President Trump to document and demonstrate sound mental abilities. While you underwent your annual physical exam on November 19, 2021, you either did not face a cognitive test or those results were withheld from the public. White House Physician Kevin O’Connor, D.O., attested to you being “fit to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency” in a very superficial and purely physical manner; however, we are worried about your mental abilities.

In the petition it is noted that lawmakers in Congress have sent two other letters to Biden since his swearing-in (neither got any response).

As time passes, Americans continue to lose confidence in the President's ability to “effectively and competently handle [his] duties as President of the United States.”

The letter refers Biden to polls that show:

  • 66% of voters believe that he should take the cognitive test.
  • 56% of the voters aren't certain that he’s physically and mentally able to perform his duties, which is a change of 29 points since October, 2020.
  • 64% of think that he’s shown evidence that he’s too old to perform the duties of the President, including 60% of those who are 65 or older.
  • Just 34% of voters are satisfied with his work done as president

Dr. Ronny notes Joe “brushed aside” his previous pleas because they were partisan.

But:

[T]he left-leaning New York Times recently published an article outlining all of this in great detail. According to [the outlet], the increased scrutiny surrounding your cognitive state has been fueled by your recent public appearances, during which you shuffle your feet when you walk, often slur your words, lose your train of thought, have trouble summoning names, and appear momentarily confused.

All of this was exemplified during your most recent trip to the Middle East, where you claimed that we must “keep alive the truth and honor of the Holocaust,” among other things.

The letter cites other instances that “are extremely concerning and cast doubt” about Biden's capacity to fulfill his duties.

Biden’s actions have fallen to the level of what people would have anticipated. What we are now seeing of the Commander-in-Chief's performance certainly his handlers or, maybe, even himself anticipated.

Will Biden agree to an examination? It's not certain. It's absolutely sure that no one would announce any negative information if a test was failed. If the test results were declared positive, the critics would not be able to believe it.

Yet, a majority of legislators are in agreement with the letter. According to Fox News, 54 House Republicans have signed the petition. This is 13 more than the one that was signed in June 2021 and 27 more when compared to last February's proposal.

Of course, in the event that Biden was to fail an assessment of his cognitive abilities and be dismissed from his post, it might not be an improvement considering who is next in line.

It is important to ensure that they really want what they're asking for.
