Greg Abbott has an Unwelcome Surprise for Lori Lightfoot

When Texas Governor. Greg Abbott announced his charter bus policy for illegal immigrants in April, Washington, D.C. was chosen as the sanctuary city in which they'd be sent to as a response to their being thrown into already overcrowded Texas border towns due to Biden's devastating open border policies.

Only a few months later, and after D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser expressed her displeasure about the homeless shelters being overrun and twice sought National Guard help, Abbott added New York City to the list. Following this, a dispute broke out between Abbott and Mayor Eric Adams, who also complained about resources being exhausted and slammed Abbott for being some sort of “anti-American governor.”

Now, just a few days before the Labor Day holiday weekend begins, we discover that Democratic-controlled Chicago, and the home of America's worst mayor Lori Lightfoot, has been added to the charter bus destinations list. Two buses were scheduled to arrive on Wednesday night in the Chicago Union Station according to Fox News.

In an official statement, Abbott detailed his reasoning behind adding Chicago in the list:

“President Biden’s inaction at our southern border continues putting the lives of Texans—and Americans—at risk and is overwhelming our communities,” said Governor Abbott. “To continue providing much-needed relief to our small, overrun border towns, Chicago will join fellow sanctuary cities Washington, D.C. and New York City as an additional drop-off location. Mayor Lightfoot loves to tout the responsibility of her city to welcome all regardless of legal status, and I look forward to seeing this responsibility in action as these migrants receive resources from a sanctuary city with the capacity to serve them.”

The Mayor's office stated in reply that the office was working hard to ensure that migrants received what they required upon arrival:

“Chicago continues to be a warm and welcoming city. We're working together across different city departments and working with local as well as state and communities to guarantee that that everyone who visits Chicago is welcomed and is treated with dignity and respect,” Mayor Lightfoot's office released an official statement.

But that's not what happened.

Although Lightfoot's office has been being nice at the moment, we should anticipate her to soon lash out at Abbott the same way that Adams did. This is because Lightfoot is, like many Democrats who love to make big plans but repeatedly fail to perform, is well-known for not living the principles she claims and in holding people accountable for things she does not do herself.

It’s exciting to see how this unfolds in the public sphere, particularly with regard to the way Lori Lightfoot will undoubtedly declare how “welcoming” she is but how Chicago isn't in a position to handle the volume of people. This further proves Abbott's point.
