Gavin Newsom Asks Justice Department to Look into Kidnapping Charge for GOP Governors

It's not just Republicans who are profiting from DeSantis and Abbott. Sure, some conservatives applauded Texas governor Greg Abbott and other Republican governors for bringing illegal immigrants into blue-colored cities. But after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis joined in on the festivities, and took illegals on a trip to Martha's Vineyard, it appears that at least one Democrat is looking to use this issue to boost his image.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom sent a letter to the Justice Department requesting that the agency look into possible kidnapping and other allegations related to the GOP governor's actions.

“In a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland, Newsom asked whether actions by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis sending illegal immigrants from their respective states to destinations such as New York City, Washington, D.C. Chicago, and Martha’s Vineyard were illegal,” Newsom wrote, according to Fox News Digital.

“Several of the individuals who were transported to Martha’s Vineyard have alleged that a recruiter induced them to accept the offer of travel based on false representations that they would be transported to Boston and would receive expedited access to work authorization,” Newsom continued. “I urge US DOJ to investigate whether the alleged fraudulent inducement would support charges of kidnapping under relevant state laws.”

The letter was a reaction to DeSantis' decision to transfer criminals to Martha's Vineyard. This year, Newsom singled out the Florida governor as his enemy. However, he has also attacked Abbott.

Taryn Fenske, DeSantis' communications director, told Fox News Digital:

“States like Massachusetts, New York and California will better facilitate the care of these individuals who they have invited into our country by incentivizing illegal immigration through their designation as ‘sanctuary states’ and support for the Biden administration’s open border policies.”

Christina Pushaw, communications director for DeSantis's re-election campaign, stated that more illegals could be headed towards Martha's Vineyard. Dylan Fernandes, the state representative representing the district where Martha's Vineyard is located, tweeted that illegals “were not met with chaos” when they arrived. He also boasted: “We are a community & nation that is stronger because of immigrants.”

He added:

Our island jumped into action putting together 50 beds, giving everyone a good meal, providing a play area for the children, making sure people have the healthcare and support they need. We are a community that comes together to support immigrants.

Pushaw quickly responded by tweeting: “Great, then you won't mind taking in a few thousand more.”

But we know exactly the extent of what Newsom was trying to do, right? He's aware of the lack of reasons to charge the governors with kidnapping. The reason he is using this conflict is to strengthen his position in the race to become the Democrats' candidate for the presidency in 2024 since nobody really believes that Biden will run for president in the next election. This is the main reason Newsom is in a fight with Abbott and DeSantis.

However, one thing is for certain. Even Newsom is unable to undo the political harm Democrats have suffered because of the blatant hypocrisy they've displayed over the last few months. While they claim that they are concerned over the suffering of the brown people who have slipped into America from Central America, their constant complaining about the need to care for those who live in their towns shows the truth. Their statements were merely virtue signaling.
